Read the case study

Geofinder started from nothing. No prior product. The goal was a real-time location-sharing app for a broad audience — including people with limited technical experience — that let groups share location, track movement, and set up relevant places, immediately and without a learning curve.

Existing apps showed one location at a time, required manual tracking, and weren't designed for groups. Nothing felt immediate.

01

User research

Needs, pain points, motivations. Beyond "see where someone is" — safety, privacy control, and arrival confirmation were the real motivations.

02

Competitive analysis

Existing apps: one location at a time, tedious manual tracking, no group support. None felt designed for casual daily use.

03

Affinity mapping

Qualitative data grouped into patterns revealed three distinct user groups sharing similar motivations and pain points.

04

Personas and information architecture

Three personas. A site map structuring the hierarchy: home, groups, places, tracking history.

High fidelity

Real-time location, made legible

Three core screens: onboarding that explains the concept immediately, a groups map with real-time locations, and a tracking timeline that turns movement history into something legible.
